  • Not required — both flamethrowers operate fine with the standard single-gauge stock configuration. The regulator is for consistent, repeatable performance. Without it, your operating pressure floats with ambient temperature (CO2 expands when warm, contracts when cold). With the regulator dialed in, you get the same range and flame profile from shot to shot regardless of conditions — useful for pyrotechnic work, training environments, and anyone chasing maximum range.

  • Optimal pressure depends on the flamethrower and fuel mix:

    • X15: 400–700 PSI for maximum range (vary based on fuel mix viscosity)

    • XL18: 300–400 PSI for maximum range (vary based on fuel mix viscosity)

    Start at the lower end and increase until you hit your target range.

  • Yes — the regulator fits onto the fuel tank of both the X15 and XL18. Same installation, just different optimal pressure ranges. It is not compatible with the ARC or TF-19 (those use fuel pumps, not CO2 propellant).

This regulator allows the user to reduce and set system pressure to adjust flamethrower performance (range, flame width, fuel use rate, CO2 use rate and recoil). Without a regulator, the flamethrower’s operating pressure is equalized with the 20oz CO2 tank. CO2 pressure largely depends on outside temperature (see above chart).

Maximum range pressure setting:

X15: 400 – 700 psi (depending on fuel mix / viscosity)

XL18: 300 – 400 psi (depending on fuel mix / viscosity)

Increase the range and consistency of your flamethrower using this device. The regulator controls the flow inline with the CO2 pressurization system. Ambient temperature may still have a slight impact on final pressure.
